This year has been full of firsts, and holidays are no different. Every holiday was extra special because it was Sam’s first Halloween, Christmas, Easter, etc. It hit me that this 4th of July was the last of the firsts. Sounds sad at first, but this next year will be just as exciting as he’s more aware and excited himself about what’s going on. I can’t wait to see his face on Christmas morning and take him trick or treating at Halloween. But here’s a little bit about his last first holiday:
Mom and Dad were worried about how a little one would feel about fireworks, but Sam seemed to really like them! His first glimpse was out of his bedroom window, and he silently stared at the sky for a few moments afterwards. Our neighborhood had been full of booms and pops for days, and Sam didn’t seem to mind. So, on the 4th, after a fun day with family, we took Sam to O’Fallon’s fireworks. He couldn’t take his eye off of them! We decided to go again on the 5th to a bigger show and, again, he was very interested, until he realized that the stroller had wheels to play with, people were wearing fun glowing neclaces, mom and dad were at great climbing level, etc. In so many words, his attention wasn’t completely on fireworks, but he did really seem to enjoy them again. He loved the finale, and when it was over he was watching the sky for more. If this holiday had to be the last, at least the weather was beautiful, the fireworks amazing, and I got to watch it while my little on was all snuggled in my lap. And, I guess we do have one more big first yet to come…the birthday. =)

I love the picture!!!!
